Human connection, creativity, self-expression, beauty, joy, love – these can all be essential parts of living and relating well, in and beyond the health and care setting.

In my work resolving disputes in health and care, we create space to find out what really matters to the patients, families and professionals at the heart of a disagreement.

Often, what matters to individuals is the nuanced aspects of life – the well-chosen words, the intangible sense of trust, the carefully-built rapport, the recognition of lived experience, the appreciation of efforts made.

In a sense, that subtle human connection is the ‘background music’ to successful care…
